To all the members of CORRC, when I had the idea of
starting a club for carpet racing,
I was a little concerned that we would be able to get enough members /
racers to make this work.
While, we can always use more racers, you guys are great!
I've enjoyed the task of getting this organized,
started and off in the right direction and you all have played a part
in making it work.
However, I also said that I did not think that I could have enough time
to
continue to run the club after the end of the year.
Prior to the end of the year, there were talks with many
members about stepping into an officer roll or
stepping up from an existing position and become president.
The only option was Mario becoming President and Treasure.
I did not and still do not feel that this is a good position
for a non profit organization to be in.
My need to spend more time at my business, is very
real.
Construction sales are not falling at my feet.
With this, I had notified the other officers last week of my need to
resign from the club at this point.
I had talked about making the announcement at the race this weekend,
but did not want to disrupt the event have agreed to remain till the
end of February
or when a replacement can be appointed.
This time should allow for the Presidency to be filed and any other
openings that this would create.
I would like to recommend that Mario, who was the
runner up in the ballot for
President in December to become the president.
He has demonstrated the ability to run events and direct the club.
The best example is the Carpet Classic that we just completed this
weekend.
Almost everything that was done for this event
Mario either did or asked for the help to get it completed.
I know he has talked to few people about taking over the roll as
treasure,
but this replacement can and should be done by the board.
Based on the Bylaws, the board has the authority to select and appoint
a
replacement for the balance of 2008.
So if you have any input, get a hold of Mario, Steve, Paul or Art and
let them know what your thoughts are.
In closing, I'm looking forward to racing with all
of you in the future locally,
going to the Regionals in Montana and Nationals in Omaha.
Once carpet season is over, I'm not sure what my
schedule will be for pavement racing.
I had always planned on taking 4-6 weeks off to get more stuff done,
but we'll see.
